This is AI & Games Group's web site of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Miami. The group's research is focused on research in the area of  Artificial Intelligence within the context of Games and Multi-Agent Systems, especially sports games.  We are also involved in research and development of complex simulated sports games, check out our Research and Games section.

Event: RoboCup German Open 2011

RoboCanes wins “RoboCup German Open”

Ten teams out of seven countries have participated in the 3D soccer simulation league at the RoboCup German Open in Magdeburg, Germany this week. The goal: winning the tournament and the de facto European Championships.

In a fulminant walkover RoboCanes were marching into the final on April 4, 2011, winning 8 out of 10 games and having 2 ties over the past few days. The preliminary round games were won against NaoTeamHumboldt (5:0, Humboldt University Berlin, Germany, the acting Vice-World Champion) and the newcomer OxBlues (6:0, Oxford University, UK). The first round started with a draw against FC Portugal (0:0, University of Porto/Aveiro, Portugal), a 8:0 win against L3M (University of Versailles, Paris, France) and another win against OxBlue (3:1). The second round was also won against NaoTeamHumboldt (0:0), and beeStanbul (8:0, İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Turkey). The semifinal against the three-times German Open winner and acting German Open Champion team ‘Boldhearts’ (University of Hertfordshire, UK) was won 1:0. The final revealed an exciting match between RoboCanes and FC Portugal that ended 2:0 for RoboCanes. See below the 2nd half of the final against FC Portugal.
